Vintage Paper Fair Announces Free Admission

Vintage Paper Fair, the West Coast's largest antiquarian paper shows, has just announced that beginning in 2010, all shows will have free admission. The first show of the year will be held Jan. 9-10 in San Francisco.

Promoter Hal Lutsky notes that even the Glendale show, which has had an expensive early bird admission for 30 years, will now have no admission charge.

"We've been slowly moving toward this for a while" he said. "The San Francisco show has always been free, and the Glendale and Concord shows have had free admission on Sunday for several years now. This has really helped attendance on Sundays, which can sometimes be slow. We've also been giving out thousands of free passes for the days when we do charge admission, so many people have been getting in free already. The economy's poor all over the country but especially in California, so I felt I owed it to my dealers to do everything possible to encourage attendance. People love getting something for free."

Lutsky stated that even with the new free admission policy, the Glendale show will still provide free customer parking in the garage, noting that he pays to rent the garage.

San Francisco shows are held at the Hall of Flowers, Golden Gate Park, 9th and Lincoln. Show hours are Saturday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. For information call (415) 668-1636 or go to www.vintagepaperfair.com.
