4/24/2008
By Cecilia Buckner
Doris Raymond, owner of The Way We Wore, a vintage clothing store in Los Angeles, says sales at her store have tripled in the past few months.
The quality and value of clothing in her store is likely part of the reason why people shop there, Raymond speculated. The "green" aspect of her business is also appealing, she said.

Just What IS Rockabilly?
3/26/2008
By Angela Petraline
According to Wikipedia, "Rockabilly is one of the earliest styles of rock and roll music, and emerged in the early-1950s. The term "rockabilly" is a portmanteau of "rock," from rock and roll, and "hillbilly", the latter a reference to the country music (often called "hillbilly music" in the 1940s and 50s) that contributed strongly to the style's development. Other important influences on rockabilly include Western Swing, blues music, boogie woogie, and jump blues. Although there are notable exceptions, its origins lie primarily in the Southern USA". Rockabilly is generally considered to have been popular just from the early 50s to early 60s, though once its influence reached the mainstream, it never truly went away.

By Geets Vincent
When he graduated as an engineer from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and later earned a Masters in business administration degree from Dartmouth College, John Maxwell never dreamed friends and fate would lead him far from his academic world. Next month, when this impresario turns 78, he and his partners will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Vintage Fashion Expo. From across the U.S.A. dealers and collectors of special styles meet to celebrate long-ago fashions. The next one, to be held Mar. 15-16, 2008, features 90 dealers and takes place at the Nob Hill Masonic Center in San Francisco.

Vintage Beaded Bags - The Perfect Gift

Valentine's Day is a time of magic, romance and charm. Fancy cards decorated with hearts, flowers and cherubs are given to lovers and family members with heart-felt sincerity. If a lady is extra special she might even get a bouquet of roses, box of candy or piece of jewelry. Although vintage clothing collectors are already born romantics, the one gift that will make their hearts flutter is a beaded bag. As varied as costume jewelry they're perfect for someone who wants to either start a collection add to one.

Vintage Denim Market Fading, But Not Washed Up
12/26/2007
By Cecilia Buckner
"There's still a market for vintage denim, but people aren't buying it like they used to," states David Little, a Denver author who has written a couple of books on the subject.
Little's first book, Vintage Denim sold about 10,000 copies almost immediately after it was published in 1996. New copies of the book are so difficult to find - - sellers are demanding anywhere from $300 to $600 for it. This first book has a special guide section where readers can look up the qualities of denim for specific eras and what they are worth.
