Bird houses are a common collectible, easily found in as many colorful varieties as there are bird species.

Judy Kirk, co-owner of Applecrate Country Store in El Cajon, Calif., has a tweet way of making bird houses, using recycled wood, rusted hardware and old garden tools found at garage sales and flea markets. The functioning bird houses add country charm to any outdoor space. Look for these and other handcrafted creations at the Home Craft Show, June 19-20, 2009. For information, pick up a flyer at the Applecrate or call (619) 441-2700.
